Philip’s Fast is a 40-day journey of prayer and spiritual renewal leading up to the Nativity of Our Lord. It begins on November 15, following the feast of St. Philip, and concludes on Christmas Eve. While observance is voluntary, it offers a beautiful way to prepare our hearts for Christ’s birth.
How can we observe this season?
Prayer: Set aside at least 15 minutes each morning and evening for prayer.
Fasting: At minimum, abstain from meat on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Almsgiving: Support a parish outreach, charity, or another act of generosity.
Love: Reflect on the Ten Commandments or the Beatitudes and choose one or two to live out each week.
Through these practices, we grow closer to God and make room for Christ in our lives. Let us embrace this time with joy and purpose!
