While many honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in a special way during the month of May, the Byzantine Church remembers and celebrates the Theotokos throughout the entire liturgical year. Through our prayers, hymns, and iconography, her presence and intercession remain central in every season.
Numerous feasts highlight her life and role in salvation history—from her Nativity (September 8) to her Dormition (August 15). Other major celebrations, such as the Entrance into the Temple (November 21) and the Annunciation (March 25), invite us to reflect more deeply on her obedience, humility, and love for God.
Together, these feasts remind us that our devotion to the Mother of God is not limited to one month but is woven into the rhythm of the entire year.
May God bless all the mothers of our Eparchy! Happy Mother’s Day!
