11th Sunday after Pentecost

In today’s Gospel (Mt 18:23-35), on the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, the Lord confronts us with the parable of the unforgiving servant. This story reveals both the immeasurable mercy of God and the danger of withholding that same mercy from others. And this Gospel is never just a lesson about forgiveness but a call to conversion in every dimension of Christian life.

The King’s mercy shows us what authentic worship looks like: standing before God aware of our own forgiven debt. The servant’s failure reminds us that godly fellowship cannot flourish where resentment is allowed to take root. Christ’s final warning urges us toward missionary discipleship, carrying His mercy into the world. And the generosity of the King becomes the model for sacrificial stewardship, offering our time, resources, and compassion as freely as God offers His grace.
